- Ricardo Borba is an amateur astronomer living in Ottawa and a member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Between observing sessions he develops Voice over IP applications as a Software Engineer at Natural Convergence. Ricardo became interested in Astronomy in 2001 after he saw the Mir Space Station pass over Ottawa for the last time before it plunged into the Pacific Ocean. A few months later, using his first telescope and a digital video camera, Ricardo had his 24 hours of fame when his image of the Space Shuttle Discovery docked with the International Space Station was published at NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day. Since then, he has been dedicated to lunar and planetary imaging from his backyard observatory.
