Life Measurement, Inc. (LMI) was formed in 1989 to develop and market health-related measurement devices for risk factors that aren´t easily quantified. One of those risk factors, obesity, has shown a dramatic increase in recent years. Recognizing the importance of and need for a fast, safe, accurate, and easy-to-use body composition measurement system, LMI developed their first product: the BOD POD® Body Composition System.
The BOD POD was developed with the assistance of Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grants awarded to LMI by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the most prestigious health organization in the world. Only the most unique and promising technologies are eligible for such funding.
