Boardnation was acquired from Andrew Edtl in July of 2002 by Joshua Dickerson and David Recordon. These two individuals were determined to bring it back and make it better than it ever was and compete with other established hosts out there; this goal has been met with overwhelming support.

Being frustrated by ads and banners on all of the other message board hosts, they decided it was time for reform and promised to never place a banner ad or pop-under on any part of a forum that normal members would see. Starting out with a big boom, they began to mold this service from the knowledge gained in working on open source message boards into the company that it is today. They continue to work with YaBBSE a popular open source PHP and MySQL forum.

Currently, Boardnation still only employs these two individuals, but it has a growing population of volunteers who are eager to help. Boardnation has the clear goal of providing the best forums on the Internet without the barrage of ads that other free hosts take advantage of.
