- Originally built and operated as the Byabarra General Store, Blue Poles opened in December 1997 as a Contemporary Art Gallery and Café. The then owners Frith and Allan Peters were inspired to create a contemporary gallery in a bush environment which showcased local artists and was accessible to a wide cross section of people. Blue Poles was built by Frith and Allan from recycled and preloved materials, Blue Poles’ gentle and friendly ambience was created by these two artists.
