History
Named in 1940 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) for Perl D. Blodgett, 1855-1920(?), who came to Kodiak from Vermont about 1883. Blodgett was one of the early bluefox ranchers. He built a cannery on Kodiak Island in 1911 and ran a small steam launch for hunting sea otter between the islands which earned him the title of "Captain" Blodgett.
