The Blaze King wood-burning stove was invented in 1977 by Roger A. and Edna Arlene Chinn of Roger's Fireplace Shoppe, Inc. in Tigard, Oregon. The original Patent #249,890 was issued on October 10, 1978. During the first decade and a half, Blaze King made wood stoves only. Favored by homeowners worldwide for the large firebox, excellent heat production and long burn times, Blaze King wood-burning stoves were the stoves of choice.
The Clean Air Act, which was passed by the Carter Administration, was introduced and the first of two phases for cleaner emissions was on the horizon. In an effort to avert any potential problems, Blaze King began research in the area of catalytic technology for use in wood stoves.
Eventually the Blaze King grew from Roger's Fireplace Shoppe, Inc. to Blaze King Industries, LLC. Still a proudly "Made in America" product, manufactured in Walla Walla, Washington.
