Blacksmiths Depot | Blacksmith and metalworker tools and supplies

Description

Steve started Blacksmithing at the age of 8. His Grandfather grabbed him by the ear and pulled him into the shop. Eight smiths worked for his grandfather, all from Europe, no two from the same country. Not being able to communicate with each other and trying to uphold their nations honor caused them to work very productively. Each one thought he was the best and knew the best way to do everything. They competed with each other and Steve learned from them all.

In 1954, Steve entered the Navy. Being a smith, they made him an electrician. After the Navy and College, he married and set up a shop for part time smithing. Immediately he was swamped with work from antique dealers, collectors, etc., and the rest is history. His son David started at age 5 and now runs the business which has three forges, a 7000+ square foot shop, a brass foundry and a gallery of their work. Steve's wife Shirley, David's wife Cathy, their children Zack and Eli run the office. Dennis Hunter assists David in the shop.

We sell fly presses, Anvils and all the hammers, tongs, and swages you could want. We have a trailer something like the Snap-On Tool Dealer and we go to the conferences all over the country and sell tools. Tools are imported from France and Germany, and we are distributors for Off Center Tongs and Swages, Forgemaster Gas Forges, Peddinghaus Anvils and Coal. Recently we became the distributor for Ellis Saws, Burr King, Kalamazoo, and the line of Old Philadelphia Tool Co., traditional tools of the style used in the shop of Samuel Yellin.
