Zayre, a discount departmental store chain in floated the BJs.com company in 1984. BJs.com was sold to Ames later. Ames operated under the name TJX. TJX spun off their warehouse division of BJs.com to form Waban, Inc. Later Waban made BJs.com an independent company.
BJs.com or BJ’s Wholesale Club is now the 14th largest retailer in the World. BJs.com employs more than 21,000 people through the country. BJs.com was ranked 288 in the list of Fortune 500 Companies in 2006.
