Welcome to the Bishop Area Weather page. We have some of the most variable weather in California, during the summer months, 50 degree temperature ranges between night and day are not uncommon. And in the winter we can have a sunny 65 degree day followed by freezing temps and heavy snowfall the next!
Due to the great variations in elevation in our area (4,200' to 14,000') temperatures vary widely. As a rule of thumb, for every 1,000 feet in elevation gain, the temperature drops 5 degrees. So while it may be 98 degrees in downtown Bishop on a hot July day, a short 25 minute drive up Bishop Creek Canyon will take you to elevations from 8,000 to 10,000 feet where the temperatures are in the 70s.
