The Royal Bahamas Police Force is the national police service of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and is responsible for policing all of the country's islands and settlements. Police officers undertake an initial six month training period at the Bahamas Police College in Nassau or Freeport and upon graduation are awarded the rank of "police constable". These officers are posted to stations throughout the country. There are 2,800serving police officers in The Bahamas.
