Billie Doux: Reviews and Articles
Description
Yes, Billie Doux is a pen name. And yes, I'm female. (People always ask.) I'm a lifelong science fiction fan; I started reading sci-fi when I was ten. My favorite (current) authors are John Varley and Orson Scott Card. Actually, I don't just like sci-fi. I read a lot of everything. And I love sci-fi/fantasy/cult television shows. I used to be a major Star Trek fan until they started having serious quality control issues.
I express my love by writing episode reviews. I've reviewed eleven different shows so far(see the index above) and the list just keeps getting longer. I'm insane. I know it.
How did I end up writing episode reviews, you may ask. (Or not, but you're here and I'm going to tell you, anyway.) I started writing brief Babylon 5 reviews for my wonderful friends on the Star Trek Women's Caramel Sauce Task Force discussion list back in 1997. Right about the time Babylon 5 ended, I fell madly in love with Buffy the Vampire Slayer (it was season two) and it seemed like a natural segue. Angel premiered a year later, and I started reviewing it, too. One day, while perusing a terrific Buffy/Angel site on the web, it occurred to me that I had all of these reviews only my friends had read, and the wonderful site I was reading had none, and a light bulb went off in my head. I offered, and The Slayer Net took me on. Awhile later, I found n:zone (actually, they sort of found me), and I've been writing reviews for them ever since.
