A little History. . . With the end of University in sight I had to start scheming a way to stay on 2 wheels and subsidize my deep cycling and outdoor addiction. Hhmmmm, how to do that in a world full of rush hour traffic and office cubicles? The answer was easy: find a way to get paid for riding a mountain bike. What a better way than to open a mountain bike guiding service and outdoor gear shop. A plan was formulated, we packed up the ole truck and moved to La Antigua, Guatemala and founded Old Town Outfitters and Bike Guatemala. The gamble paid off, I guess every dog has its day. With hundreds of miles of single track right out the front door, I knew I was in heaven. We put a shingle on the wall and the rest is history. That was back in 1998 and I still haven’t ridden all there is to ride here in the valley. But don’t take my word for it, come down and see for yourself!
The professional staff here at Old Town Outfitters is the heart and soul of the shop. We embody a passion for adventure and the skills to provide safe quality trips. Together, we have more than 20 years of experience in the field. In a synergistic and cumulative effort, each guide or shop staff brings something different to the table, but with one collective goal in mind: we want to take you out there, off the gringo trail, with quality, safe adventures to see what Guatemala really has to offer.
