Personal Development through Good Emotional Health

Beyond Behaviors is a Personal Development and Transformation site with the ultimate aim of helping people to be their best and to help them achieve good emotional health. The 3 pillars of Beyond Behaviors are: Following your heart, Believing in yourself, and Transforming your Life.

For over 10 years (in my own life and now on my site), I have subscribed and continue to subscribe to this mantra:

“You Will Because You Can!”

Following your Heart. Do you listen to what your heart tells you? How do you hear yourself when the noises and voices of others seem to drown it out? Following your heart means hearing your own voice and setting your own course while navigating your way through life’s obstacles.

Believing in Yourself. Being “emotionally well” is the ability to hold on to who you are while finding your inner strength. In family systems therapy, Bowen refers to this as “differentiation of self.” Differentiation of self is the ability to be emotionally in control while remaining within the emotional intensity of one’s family. In other words, how do you hang on to yourself, to who you are in the midst of the storms that family and life relationships present?

Transforming Your Life is the process from How to Get from Where You Are Today to Where You Want to Be Tomorrow.
