Berwick is a town with a distinctly Scottish feel, which is not surprising considering that it was once Scotland's greatest seaport and, in the days before Edinburgh and Glasgow, one of the largest towns too! Use the History link to find out more about the town's past.
Modern day Berwick retains its historical links, ranging from the famous Elizabethan Walls, the first army barracks in England to Stephenson's magnificent bridge over the River Tweed - the latter dating from Victorian times.
Today, Berwick is a bustling market town, now in England but whose football team plays in the Scottish league! With good road and rail links, it's easy to get to but is far enough away from the city life to be different.
