Berkshire Hardwoods, Inc. (BHI) was founded in February of 1987 in Cheshire, Massachusetts by its owner and president, Jeff Poirier. There were only five employees the first year with limited production of 850,000 board feet being sawn that first year. The company soon outgrew the Cheshire facility and moved to its current location in Chesterfield, Massachusetts in September of 1989. Currently BHI has 21 employees producing over 5 million board feet of quality hardwoods a year.
