On July 28, 2000, Ben was injured in a car accident in Caldwell, TX. He suffered burns over 45% of his body. His remaining 36 days were spent in the Intensive Care Burn Unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Friday, Sept. 1, Ben began to experience respiratory failure and passed away shortly after 7:00 pm. We thank the Medical Staff at Brooke Army ISR/ICU 4 South for their heroic efforts.
