b current's artistic vision is based on the mutability and continual permutation of language: as our relationships with environment, cultural rites and ceremonies change, so do our creative processes and products. This is immediately evident in the language and speech of peoples thruout the black diaspora. Therefore we look to the cultural pockets where this language is in motion: spoken and written word, dance & movement, time-based works, traditional and contemporary music, and the creative utterances from youth. We feel the need to create, maintain, and sustain an environment where artistic exploration and the development of skills and material is a formal ongoing process; where the co-mingling of work by experienced professionals and the emissions of youth can truly reflect the aesthetics, power and plethora of voices from the black arts matrix.
