Technique Description
The difference between foil highlights and Balayage Highlights is this: if you weave a strand of hair and put it in a foil with the lightener, you are going to have the same amount of lightened hair throughout the strand.
This means if someone wants to have a lot of blonde towards the ends, you are going to have a lot of blonde towards the roots. If the hair ends are thinner we end up with more lightened hair at the roots. Balayage highlights are different.
Balayage highlights is a technique in which you can actually use the balayage lightener to paint the balayage highlights in. This allows you to paint less lightened hair at the roots and more lightened hair towards the ends. That’s what gives you a European look of hair color that is darker at the roots and gradually more lighted hair towards the ends.
