About Bad Lit
This blog style version of Bad Lit is the third or fourth incarnation of the site created and maintained by Mike Everleth. Online since 1998, Bad Lit was originally a showcase of Mike’s fictional writing–stories, poems, screenplays, comic strips, etc.–but soon also included movie reviews and other types of commentary. Over time, the fictional writing was phased out and the site focused almost exclusively on movie reviews, indie and underground movie news and comic book reviews. Bad Lit became a blog powered by WordPress in 2005.
In addition to Bad Lit, Mike has been a professional entertainment copywriter and content editor for publications such as the Cable Guide print magazine, Gist.com (a TV listings website) and IFILM.com–the largest streaming video site on the Internet.
Mike is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Film/Video program, which is now known as the School of Film and Animation. He also has a long history of writing for zines, both in print and on the internet. Before starting Bad Lit, he co-created the pioneering webzine Dirt with David Cushman. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, filmmaker Jessica Villines.
