Virtual Museum of Bacteria - Bacteria Information from The Foundation for Bacteriology

Description

About the Virtual Museum of Bacteria

The Virtual Museum of Bacteria was started with support of The Foundation of Bacteria, a non-profit organization for education and propagation of bacteriology (founder: Martin J. Blaser). Curator and writer of this museum is Trudy M. Wassenaar. We received further financial support from the The Waksman Foundation for Microbiology to write the special feature files.

This museum is a collection of internet sites on all aspects of bacteria and bacteriology. Your curator surfs the web on a regular basis to look new sites, and interesting findings are hyperlinked in the textual displays of this museum. The curator is responsible for the selection of the links and for the exhibits that explain the basic principles of bacteriology, however no responsibility is held for the contents of links outside this museum. All outbound links are credited.

The 'exhibits' of the museum contain text only. This enables easy access for every visitor. Not everybody has the fastest of computers. Text only is still the most efficient way to get information across. However, as soon as you click on one of the outside links (the one crediting the 'source') you'll quickly see what fancy websites are fashionable nowadays. And there are lots of pictures of bacteria available on the web. See our special feature file: images of bacteria. If you want to see a certain species, you can check our species files. When available, we insert links to pictures at the top of a species file. Some of the links may be Java supported or use frames. Our site does not use either, so that whatever machine or browser you're using, you can enjoy the exhibits.
