Corbeil is located in St-Lin, a small village 30 miles north of Montreal at the foothills of the Laurentian Mountains in the Province of Quebec.
Over the years, Corbeil products have earned a reputation for their superior quality and rugged construction. Buses at Corbeil are not mass produced; every bus is built to meet the customer’s specifications.
Corbeil was founded in 1936 by Joseph Henri Corbeil. Corbeil initially operated as a small bus body manufacturing facility. They quickly earned a well deserved reputation for high quality design and workmanship. As demand for their products increased throughout the years, the company expanded. By the early 1960's, Corbeil held 65% of the eastern Canadian market for school bus bodies. Following the death of the company founder in 1960, the company leadership was handed over to his three sons. The tradition of excellence continued throughout that decade and by the early 1970's, competitors in the US were beginning to take notice of Corbeil products. As a result, in 1975, Corbeil was purchased by an American competitor. The recession of 1980 caused the US owner to re-evaluate their operations which resulted in closing the St-Lin location in the early 1980's.
