Having originally studied at Hornsey College of Art, and graduated as a textile designer, I became interested in watercolour painting six years ago, whilst living in Belgium. Flemish culture is rooted in painting - and I found a local group of painters in Antwerp - the home of famous painters such as Anthony van Dijke, and Peter Paul Rubens. Today the tradition continues, there are many talented artists and leading designers, graduating from Antwerp art school. It was a fantastic city to be in, with this deep-rooted link back to these artists.

I shall always remember the people in my group who were themselves very talented artists -who gave me their support, friendship and the confidence to paint.

I am fascinated by the movement and purity of watercolour painting, and love to express this in subjects such as flowers, plants and perhaps pebbles or seashells. I like to paint on what is considered quite a large scale for watercolour- seeing the paint skate over the expanse of paper with the flow of water, drawn by my brush, is very satisfying. Sometimes I let the water flow, not knowing where it will stop, and other times I will control it. As you will see in the Gallery, each painting seems to have a life of it's own!
