- The Asia Insurance Directory has its origins in the contact list of a local adjuster. As the list grew in size,a decision was made to transfer the information, first to a database on a single workstation, and then to an intranet. Others, however, soon wanted access to this same information while in the field, and to accommodate their needs, the database was moved to an extranet. Data retrieval, however, proved to be a somewhat difficult task, in that some knowledge of programming was required. To overcome this, a user-friendly interface, along with an administrative panel, was built to facilitate the input of new information, as well as the editing of existing data.
