- In the UK, this is the most common of the various different species of woodworm beetle that attack seasoned timber. The adult lays about 30-40 eggs in crevices in a piece of seasoned timber and these eggs hatch after about 3-4 weeks. The hatchlings are in the form of grubs, which burrow into the timber for between 3 to 5 years. Then, during the months of April/May, the adult beetles emerge through the small, circular bore holes which are characteristic of the activity of this type of beetle.
