- I glommed onto dance at age 14 — late for a dancer — and spent the next 14 years training and performing as a professional modern dancer. I initially studied Martha Graham technique. But after my first exposure to Merce Cunningham in 1971, I became a lifelong Cunningham devote, eventually studying at the Westbeth studio with Merce and his acolytes.
