History
Aqua Genesis is an independent consulting, marketing and distribution company for environmentally friendly water treatment technologies. AquaGenesis began in 1986 when founder and CEO Eduardo Jalles brought the first ozone treatment systems for pools and spas to California. Subsequently they did some commercial ozone installations including the Swan Pond at the Hyatt Regency in Maui. They have also been involved in residential water treatment, mainly with diverse drinking water systems, from water distillers to Reverse Osmosis and Deionization. They supplied some traditional salt based water softeners before coming across the environmentally friendly, salt-free, electronic anti-scaling technology that they now sell as their primary products.
Description
Presently, AquaGenesis is mostly oriented toward hard water treatment using two patented technologies, Scalewatcher and Small Wonder. Both devices remove and prevent limescale buildup without the use of salt, chemicals, or magnets. The user wraps a coil around the pipe carrying water into their house before it splits into hot and cold. Once turned on, the device sends electronic signals into the pipes that force Calcium and Magnesium cations - the minerals responsible for hard water problems - to remain suspended in the water, rather than attaching to the inside of pipes. This prevents limescale from building up on water heater coils and throughout the house, including on sinks and appliances.
The two products (Scalewatcher and Small Wonder) operate by the same mechanism. What sets them apart are the pipe size and water hardness they can affect, as well as the duration of the money back guarantee and manufacturer's warranty. Small Wonder is appropriate for houses where the incoming water pipe is 1" or less in diameter and the water hardness is under 20 grains per gallon (GPG). For houses with a larger pipe diameter (up to 1 1/2") and/or harder water (up to 54 GPG), Scalewatcher is recommended.
Advantages to treating hard water electronically using AquaGenesis' patented technologies include softer skin, hair, and even relief from dry skin problems such as eczema; a reduction in the amount of soap and detergent necessary; better water flow due to reduced obstruction from limescale buildup inside pipes; and energy savings due to reduced buildup on water heating elements.
For drinking water purification, Aqua Genesis recommends the use of Reverse Osmosis filtration systems.
