- Anime Nation started in 2001, as a hub between people a few online friends who got together to discuss and share old and new anime. As one of the older anime oriented hubs on Direct Connect, it has seen a large amount of history. It is a hub for the people and by the people. Started by Darkside0001, on a 56k dial up AOL line with a max of about 95 ppl, the hub grew in size with more crazed anime fans flocking. Darkside's friend, Animaniac, soon took over enhancing the hub exchanging the dial up with a cable connection. The hub, Anime Nation, and its network have grown, fluctuated, and all the while remained a staple of DC and anime life for hundreds of people. From the beginning it's most important persuit being the exchange of knowledge and various animes to now the exploration in anime of all forms in japan and bringing anime titles that might never have been seen to a broader audience not only in America but Europe, other parts of Asia besides Japan, Polynesia and Australia. To say the least, Anime Nation has seen the world. It provides a base of operations for anime enthusiasts to discuss, suggest, fansub and find anime. The hubs also serves as a community like anyother chat room occasionally sparking friendly discussions on everything from world events, technology, physics, and more. Anime Nation draws diffrent point of views from many countries due the diversity of it's members, visitors and friends all the while being respectful of these ideas and openminded. All of this has made Anime Nation the hub that it has grown to be today.
