- IWA wants to see if fairness and trust on the Web is an important enough of an issue to start a pledge. As a professional association of individuals, IWA believes accountability begins and ends with an individual, and that our laws provide only a basis for "legal ethics". These are the laws which keeps us honest because we feel the threat of being sued, fined or even jailed.
- In response to the legal initiatives currently taking place on topics such as copyrights, spamming, and privacy, IWA thought it would come up with a pledge to see if there are people who care enough to take personal responsibility before legal responsibility.
