- Andrés Felipe Monzón-Aguirre (1987- ) is an American-based artist from Colombia. He grew up near Medellín, the city in which he was born and where he later went to school. His family would often visit the Pacific coast of Colombia, specifically Bahia Solano where he became fond of the sea and the jungle, and where he admired for the first time, the ancient traditions of the natives and experienced the hospitality of the people of Chocó. The rest of his childhood was spent in Media Luna, the farmhouse where he was raised, located in the region of Santa Elena. In 1999 his father, Carlos Monzón-Aguirre, began to suffer extortions by local guerrillas. The family eventually emigrated Colombia and relocated in the United States. Andrés now lives in Florida and has made of Tampa Bay his second home. He is currently attending the Rhode Island School of Design.
