AMG Classic is dedicated to the early pre-merger years of AMG. AMG was not always the in house performance division for Mercedes-Benz. They were once an independent tuner founded in 1967 by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher. AMG did not receive official factory racing support from Mercedes-Benz until 1988 and it wasn't until 1990 did they conclude a contracted partnership. This forum is dedicated to those early years, the pre-merger years or better yet, the Classic years.
