About Larry Levine
Larry Jay Levine was convicted in 1998 of Securities Fraud, Narcotics Trafficking and Obstruction of Justice, started American Prison Consultants after having the first hand experience of serving a ten year sentence in every level of the federal prison system. Prior to entering federal prison, Levine knew absolutely nothing about the judicial system and the rights of inmates. After years of watching countless inmates have their rights violated, Levine taught himself the entire system; and while still incarcerated began assisting fellow inmates deal with their legal issues.
Upon release, he was inspired to set up a company providing help to those who like himself, found themselves in the agonizing situation of dealing with an obscure judicial system they knew little about. For those entering custody, Levine offers a program known as Fedtime 101, it's a "Survival Crash Course" on Federal Prison life, that he designed and put together while serving his time behind prison walls. The Fedtime 101 program provides direct one-on-one counseling and guidance, to ensure a person has complete understanding of the issues lying ahead of him and his family. Levine strives to provide accurate, up-to-date information to address all key issues concerning BOP Policy, pre- and post-custody policy, and what really happens when inside. Levine's assistance continues even after his clients have begun their incarceration, by addressing any concerns that their families might have while they are away.
Fedtime 101
American Prison Consultants offers a series of tutorials that will offer prisoners practical tips on how to get through their prison experience. Drawn from real-life experiences and not idealistic, unrealistic views of how prison works, the tutorials cover topics such as types of prisons, telephone regulations, avoiding assaults, the difference between good and bad jobs and what to bring with you. Unlike other programs started by people with little or no experience inside the federal prison system, Larry Levine has 10 years of experience from which to draw helpful tips that are based on reality.
Sentence Reduction
One of the ways American Prison Consultants can help inmates is by having their sentences reduced by working with a complete knowledge of the rules and policies of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. For instance, according to Federal Bureau of Prisons' Program Statement 5330, an eligible inmate graduating from a 500 hour RDAP program can receive up to a 12 month sentence reduction and a 6 month Reentry Center, Half-Way House/Community Corrections Center (CCC) Placement. In order to be eligible, one must have a history of drug (substance) abuse or dependence during your last 12 months prior to entering custody, which includes legal and/or illegal drugs, prescribed or not, and/or alcohol abuse. This is listed under the Substance Abuse Section in an inmate's PSI/PSR - though sometimes lawyers advise against admitting it to the U.S. Probation Department when one's PSI/PSR is being prepared, or sometimes you are afraid of admitting it yourself for fear of adding one more charge against you. This obviously is a wrong policy, one that might have negative consequences for you. In either case, American Prison Consultants can assist people in meeting the eligibility requirements for this program.
