- In 1973, David Appleby and Peter Merrick chose Fleetwood as the ideal location to start AM Seafood's Ltd. They realised then that a central geographical location would be a key factor in sourcing daily supplies of fresh, top quality shellfish.
- Nowadays, king scallops, queen scallops and whelks arrive overnight from locations as far away as Wick, Campbeltown, Shoreham and Brixham and are delivered to the factory in temperature controlled vehicles, to ensure absolute freshness on arrival.
