Description
I first thought of AlumniSociety upon my recent relocation to Chicago. After spending several days walking around in crowds looking for a familiar face, the idea struck me. I wondered if an old high school or college friend that lived in Chicago that could break up the monotony of loneliness. Unfortunately, even when I started to convince myself that I saw a face from school or home, I would still have no luck.
How could I find out if anyone was nearby? I could look through the thousands of names in the Alumni Directory, but quickly realized how great it would be to have a searchable/browseable database where I could just click through and find what I need.
Friends told me that there are several similar sites out there, and asked how I thought that I could compete with them. I told them that I would do so the best way that I know how, by being different.
