Our Mission

Alpha Maternity Home is a licensed, Christian maternity home that provides a safe haven from the tumult of life for pregnant women. We provide care, counseling, and life skills training in a Christian family setting where broken and hurting women can receive God’s grace and forgiveness and experience new life through Jesus Christ. We offer a supportive environment to women in need in which they can break negative life patterns and form positive skills and habits. Alpha Maternity Home is a refuge where self-esteem is built, and love and security are given along with encouragement.

Our History

The current home was purchased in 2000 with the intent of helping women in unplanned pregnancies learn how to lead successful independent lives. The first live-in maternity home staff were hired in 2003 and the home began housing women that same year.

Our Organization

Alpha Maternity Home is the only maternity home in all of Southern Minnesota and is unique because it provides permanent shelter for the duration of the woman’s pregnancy rather than a short term, temporary shelter. Alpha Maternity Home is a nondenominational Christian ministry under the guidance of an active ecumenical board of directors. The very heart of our ministry is devoted to helping young women become mature, stable Christians by applying God’s truth to their daily lives in a consistent, relevant way.
