Founded in 1995 by Dr. William T. Richardson, Alpha Behavioral Care, P.A. is a full-service treatment facility designed to meet the needs of each client, whether it be an individual, a couple or a group. Their motto is simple: A commitment to caring makes the difference.
Services
Every single patient is unique and responds to treatment differently, and as such, it is vitally important that each one of them feels welcome and understood. With an average of 20 years experience each, the staff at Alpha Behavioral Care, P.A. knows how to best approach the therapy situation, tailoring each treatment to fit the needs of the patient. They make it a point to get to know their patients inside and out, understanding that it is this intimacy which allows them to make accurate diagnoses. After the diagnosis has been made then the therapist will determine the right treatment path. Treatment can include psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, medication management, and codependence treatment.

Staff Members
Alpha Behavioral Care's team includes ten highly experienced psychiatrists.
William T. Richardson, M.D.
Dr. Richardson is board certified in psychiatry and has over 25 years of experience of working in the mental health field. A graduate of Harvard University, he completed his medical training at McGill University in Canada. He has been in active practice within New Jersey for more than fifteen years and is Vice-Chief of the Overlook Hospital Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Richardson is a seasoned professional who was recently selected as one of the top doctors in the New York Metropolitan Area by Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd. His main area of expertise is in psychopharmacology, especially in dealing with depression, mania, panic, and anxiety.
Charles Ciolino, M.D.
Board Certified, Dr. Charles Ciolino received his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School in 1981 and completed his psychiatric residency in 1985. Dr. Ciolino has been a member of the medical staff at Overlook Hospital for more than 10 years and has served as the Medical Director of the partial hospitalization program. He is currently based in Summit, New Jersey, where he runs his private practice.
Kanan Patrawalla, M.D.
Dr. Patrawalla has over over 25 years of experience as a private psychiatrist. She was trained in hypnosis by Dr. Martin Orne at the Institute of Pennsylvania Hospital and uses hypnosis in her practice. Dr. Patrawalla's area of expertise is geriatric psychiatry.
Esha Khoshnu, M.D.
A graduate of Yale University, Dr. Khoshnu has extensive experience in crisis intervention, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy. Dr. Khoshnu's approach is focusing on meeting the needs of the individual in order to provide wellness. Her specialty is recognizing and treating the special needs of women.
Peter A. Howland, M.D.
A board-certified psychiatrist and a leader in his field, Dr. Howland has the experience of teaching other psychiatrists. In addition to his BS from the University of Windsor, Ontorio and his MD from McGill University in Canada, Dr. Howland takes over fifty hours of advanced training classes each year to stay current with the latest discoveries. He also serves as a diplomat on the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the New York Academy of Medicine.
Hillel Glover, M.D.
Dr. Glover is board certified in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. After completing his residency in psychiatry at LIJ-Hillside Hospital, he completed a child psychiatry fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He also completed analytic training and is certified as a psychoanalyst by New York Medical College. He is board certified in traumatic stress and has developed scales(vulnerability and numbing) that apply to patients with post-traumatic stress, major depression, self-injury behavior, dissociative identity, and anxiety disorder.
Laurie Lindner, Ph.D., N.C.Psy.A.
Dr. Laurie Lindner has been in active practice for over twenty years, providing behavioral care to her clients. She focuses on offering family, couples, individual, and group psychotherapy and individual modern psychoanalysis. Dr. Lindner holds a Ph.D. from The Union Institute and University and is a N.A.A.P. certified psychoanalyst. She also holds an M.S.W. from Rutgers University and an M.A. from Columbia University. Dr. Lindner is also licensed in clinical social work in New York, New Jersey and California.
Lewis Cosmano, L.C.S.W., B.C.D., A.C.S.W.
A board certified psychoanalyst, Dr. Lewis Cosmano has extensive experience in forensic and psychiatric social work. Lewis Cosmano is a graduate fellow of the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health in New York City. He is a licensed clinical social worker practicing in New Jersey and New York, and is presently a Board Certified Diplomat (BCD) and a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW). Currently, Dr. Cosmano is also counseling special education students of minority background in the Harlem section of New York City.
Laura Alper, L.C.S.W.
Board certified licensed clinical social worker ( LCSW ), Laura Alper has been in practice since 1978. Ms. Alper's many years of experience and professional insight combines to create a positive change for her clients. A Harvard-trained mind-body clinician, she draws upon a variety of techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, re-framing, and prioritizing to manage stress and increase quality of life. Ms. Alper's areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, stress management, marriage and relationship difficulties, job satisfaction and effectiveness, co-dependence, and sexual identity issues.
