On Saturday, August 15, 2009 Congressional and Alabama State Proclamations were presented by the Governor’s Office and a Congressional representative in tribute to Alma for her contributions to music and education over her 67 year career. In addition, the Mayor and City Council of Huntsville, Alabama presented proclamations recognizing her musical excellence during her years on the faculty of Oakwood College (now Oakwood University). Presentations took place at 11 a.m.
