Description

Excerpted from the website:

My name is Scott Sands, and I am 39-years-old with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. People often ask me how I have managed to live this long despite my DMD. Well, I attribute my longevity to a combination of things: a loving and supportive family, strong friendships, excellent health care, a quality living environment, a deep faith, a good attitude, an active lifestyle, a little luck, and a fighting spirit. Those of us with muscular dystrophy must do whatever it takes to survive. We must rely on our hearts, souls and inner strength, but we cannot survive totally on our own. We need the assistance of others as well. With this in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to announce the creation of my new website. Currently under construction, ALIVE CONNECTION MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY will focus upon the various methods we folks with muscular dystrophy use to stay alive physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. And it will inform parents, other family members, friends, and all caregivers and medical professionals of what they must do to contribute towards keeping us alive. We people with muscular dystrophy must maintain a solid connection with ourselves and with the caring people and resources in the world around us. Staying alive is hard work and takes a team effort.
