History
a colloquial Russian tern used in reference to an Aleut woman; applied in 1809 to this feature by Ivan Vasiliev the first, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN); published by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "Guba Aleutkina." The name "Bukhta Lisyaskaya," meaning "Fox Bay," was published by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 38), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), and referrred to the Aleuts that inhabit the Fox Islands in the eastern Aleutians.
