Al-Hurra is an Arabic Language television channel funded and run by the United States government. It is prohibited from broadcasting in the United States by laws that prevent the US government form finding propaganda in the country.

It's competitors include Al-Jazeera, روسيا اليوم - Rusiya Al-Yawm (Russia Today) and AlArabiya News Channel.

AlArabiya is funded by the Saudi Government and accused of being biased in favor of the Saudi establishment and the United States. Rusiya Al-Yawm (Russia Today) was created with the explicit aim of presenting the Russian perspective on international and regional news to Arab audiences. Al-Jazeera Arabic is popular amongst Arab audiences but had been accused by western governments of presenting militants with a platform to voice their ideas.
