AJC of Greater Seattle - HOME

Description

For nine decades, the AJC has been a vital force in the American Jewish community, a unique influence on the broader American society, and a guiding spirit in the worldwide campaign to support and defend the human rights and fundamental freedoms of men and women everywhere.

The American Jewish Committee protects the rights and freedoms of Jews the world over; combats bigotry and anti-Semitism and promotes human rights for all; works for the security of Israel and deepened understanding between Americans and Israelis; advocates public policy positions rooted in American democratic values and the perspectives of the Jewish heritage; and enhances the creative vitality of the Jewish people. Founded in 1906, it is the pioneer inter-group relations agency in the United States.

Here in the Northwest, the AJC serves the unique demographic, ethnic and cultural needs of our community. To fulfill our goals of finding innovative and compelling methods of raising awareness of issues of critical concern, and to broaden understanding of Jewish culture, history and issues, we provide programs which serve the broad interests of the entire community. The Greater Seattle Chapter of the AJC works with other area organizations to reduce intolerance and discrimination and enhance democratic values and pluralism.
