Ailan was formed in 2001 to market and distribute a patented workers' compensation suite though an exclusive marketing licensing agreement. In September 2002, the company acquired the assets, including the intellectual property of the original software suite. In 2002, Ailan embarked on the development of a Web-based risk management system for managing workers’ compensation, a project that was entirely self-funded and introduced to the market in early 2003 as ClaimDesk.
