- Welcome to the Association for General & Liberal Studies—now in its 44th year! We serve (through conferences, and on-line: http://www.bsu.edu/web/agls/) as a meeting-place for ideas and rich conversations about the purpose, scope, and nature of general and liberal education. Though our focus traditionally is on higher education in the U.S., we're finding increased occasion to bring into our conversations the thinking and planning of our administrative and instructional colleagues world-wide: general education, and liberal education, are not just American concerns anymore.
