- Many Americans are among the visitors to the Salzburg Festival and the American Friends were founded in 1987 to enhance their experience at the Festival. This site was developed to provide easy access to information about the American Friends and about the Festival. This year's program promises to be particularly remarkable. Operas include Berlioz's Les Troyens; Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride; Mozart's Così fan tutte; Don Giovanni and Idomeneo; Offenbach's La Belle Hélène; Kaija Saariaho's L'amour de loin; and Wagner's Tristan und Isolde.
