The African wild dog (Lycaon pictus) is a carnivorous mammal, member of the Canidae family. Other members of the Canidae family include jackals, foxes, coyotes, wolves, dingoes, and domestic dogs. The African wild dog is found in Africa, and inhabits grasslands, savannas, and woodlands. It is also called Cape hunting dog or painted dog. These animals are similar in size and shape to domestic dogs, but have big rounded ears, a bushy tail and a colorful, patchy coat.
