About Acvec.org

The ACVEC (Alameda County Veterans Employment Committee) is focused on working with the State of California Veterans EDD representatives, private industry, educational and government institutions to support Veterans in finding meaningful employment opportunities. ACVEC - Who We Are Veterans organizations are excellent sources of advice and support for EDD's veterans services program. Field office managers, VESS', and VWS specialists may wish to contact veterans' organizations, including County Veterans Service officers, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, American Veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Gulf Wars, Fleet Reserve Association, United Veterans Councils, and Veterans Advisory Councils to arrange for the organization of the VECs in areas where they can assist EDD with its veterans employment program.

Local VEC participation should also be extended to representatives from Private Industry Councils (PIC), Employer Advisory Councils (EAC), Community Based Organizations (CBO), local members of the Veterans committee of the California Employer Advisory Council (CEAC), and representatives from local and state governments. The VECs located near active duty military bases should make every effort to include membership from those installations to coordinate job fairs and other employment opportunities.

EDD - Who We Are The Veterans Representatives that are stationed at the three One-Stop Career Centers are trained to assist veterans in their job search. Their mission is to utilize a regional approach in delivering seamless, top-quality, employment-related services to veterans and employers. Their goal is to maximize the employment of California’s Veterans, especially those with barriers to employment, using the complete menu of EDD One-Stop Career Center resources.

Employed by the state of California, this staff of dedicated professionals is available to assist Veterans with a wide variety of issues and needs, from preparing a resume to obtaining a copy of their DD-214. They also are a valuable resource for various training opportunities. Service connected disabled Veterans as well as those with barriers to employment receive top priority.
