- On December 31, 2000, my son Joel was born. Joel suffered a major stroke at birth that left him paralyzed, on life support, oxygen, and feeding through G-tube in his stomach. I was his primary caregiver, nurse and advocate. I worked hard to see that he got everything that he needed including nurses, equipment and quality of life.
