The print industry in the UK has overcapacity. In the year 2000 there were around 13,500 print companies in the UK, in 2008 that number is likely to fall to around 10,600. Competing for the business has put pressure on pricing. The Top 25% of printers will make 95% of the profits while 75% split the remaining 5%. Consolidation and contraction means 40 - 50% of printers will not survive the next ten years. Print companies need to change the way they do business to prosper.
