- I just plain love dogs. My husband and I have always had between four to sixteen dogs during our twenty seven years of marriage. I wanted to be able to help dogs and decided to start volunteering at our local shelter, the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, in 2001. I started by designing a website for them and taking photos. It is difficult to visit any shelter without falling in love with the many wonderful animals that live there. We adopted Molly the Border Collie the second day that I visited. I was the Assistant Manager for several months in 2005 and have experienced the best and the worst of people who claim to love animals. I have also worked with many rescue groups, visited a number of other shelters and transported dogs to rescue. During all this time, I have learned a lot about dogs and people. I wanted a website to share the stories about the dogs I have met and lived with. I hope you enjoy the stories and poetry and will visit often.
