1 hour after the end of the 2003 Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Ten Day Race, admiring a beautiful scoreboard. Not quite my best but there's always extenuating circumstances... anyhoo this was the eighth ten day race that I ran.
However, it has all only been possible with the inspiration of my teacher, Sri Chinmoy. It is his vision that has created the opportunity for people to transcend themselves and to remake themselves in the likeness of their dreams. The participants in these races are pioneers in the modest arena of multi-day running where the only real race is with oneself and it is a deeper being that one realises on the road of self-transcendence. The support that the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team provides is a demonstration of what can be achieved when like-minded people come together with the spirit of high ideals to strip away all the outer trappings of everyday existence and focus our life energy into this moment and become again what we truly are and what we can be.
