Tanzania Northern Circuit Safaris

Take a safari in northern Tanzania across the vast and majestic Serengeti to admire the highest concentration of wildlife throughout Africa. If your timing is right, you'll witness the largest overland migration in the world, as over one million white bearded wildebeest and 200,000 zebra make their treks to find rain.

Also in the north of Tanzania is the tallest free standing mountain in the world, and Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro. This extinct volcano boasts a diverse ecosystem with numerous hiking trails. Aardvark provides trips that typically last a week, with each day requiring between four and eight hours of hiking.

Tanzania Southern Circuit Safaris

Head south for a safari in the Selous Game Reserve, the largest wildlife reserve in the world. Some savanna animals you can view include elephants, hippopotamus, African wild dogs, and crocodiles. While you're here, you might take a boat safari along the Rufiji River, home to the world's largest mangrove forest.

West

Go west to visit Gombe Stream National Park and Mahale National Park near Lake Tanganyika, the second largest freshwater lake in the world. Here, you can take advantage of a rare opportunity to observe and study the behavior of chimpanzees.

Cultural Tourism in Tanzania

Tanzania is the home to more than 126 tribes with over 100 spoken languages. This cultural richness is not to be missed, so make sure to augment your wildlife safari with a cultural safari. Stay in a Maasai village one night and with the Bushmen at Lake Eyasi another. In between stays with a variety of tribes, you'll enjoy such places as Lake Manyara National Park and Olduvai Gorge.

Volunteer experience in Tanzania, East Africa

"To travel to Tanzania and volunteer is becoming a popular way to experience another culture. Both young people in their gap-year and older people taking a career break travel to Tanzania in order to spend time working and traveling."

Volunteering is a win-win situation. Not only do you improve the lives of others, but you also get to learn about their unique culture and homeland. Whether for a few weeks or a few months, whether you're a student or a business professional, there are plenty of ways to get involved and experience a unique country. Volunteers fall into several groups, with each group's activities varying according to age and individual objectives. Some volunteer opportunities include building projects; working with boys on the streets to return them to their families; and teaching positions that focus on the improvement of children's communication skills.
